FFIRI Got AFC’s Gold-Level Certificate

FFIRI Got AFC’s Gold-Level Certificate

AFC granted Iran the Gold Badge after reviewing the federation’s achievements under the “Grassroots Project”, a strategic initiative aimed at developing youth and amateur football nationwide.

Key factors that contributed to Iran receiving this elite status include:

  • The creation of Iran’s first-ever grassroots regulations

  • Revision and modernization of the Football School Regulations

  • Development of a four-year national grassroots strategy

  • Nationwide coordination of football festivals

  • Formation of specialized working groups involving grassroots coaches and educators

  • Launch of a three-tier Football Schools Championship (local, provincial, and national levels)

  • Significant expansion of women’s grassroots programs across provinces

  • Formal partnership with street football initiatives

  • Outstanding mini-football development

  • Record-breaking small-sided football (Gol Koochak) event with over 24,500 participants, setting a world benchmark

These milestones, reflecting a holistic and inclusive approach, led the AFC Grassroots Committee to rank Iran at the Gold Level, recognizing it as one of the continent’s top grassroots systems.

In an official letter to the FFIRI, AFC General Secretary Datuk Windsor John praised Iran’s accomplishments and affirmed AFC’s continued support for the program:

“We are pleased to inform you that your application for AFC Grassroots Charter – Gold Level Membership has been approved by the AFC Grassroots Panel. We look forward to continued updates on Iran's grassroots progress and express our full support for your efforts.”

This recognition represents a major milestone for Iranian football and underscores the federation’s commitment to sustainable development, inclusivity, and long-term success through a solid foundation at the youth and amateur levels.
